Tips to Keep Your Child Safe in a Car Seat
A car seat is a safety device that is designed to protect your child in the event of an accident. It will keep your child safe and secure during the ride. But how do you know if you are using it correctly? There are many different types of car seats, so it can be difficult to figure out which one is best for your family.
Below are some tips to keep your child safe in a car seat:
– Check that the harness straps are snug and tight around your child’s body. They should not be able to get out of the straps by pulling on them
– If you have a rear facing car seat, make sure that the harness straps go over your baby’s shoulders, not their neck
– If you have a forward facing car seat, make sure that the harness straps go over your baby’s shoulders and across their chest
– The crotch strap should be snug across both thighs when they sit on their bottom
How can I be Sure my Child is Safe while Riding in a Vehicle?
– Keep your child’s car seat installed in a rear facing position as long as possible, up to age 2 or until they reach the maximum height and weight limit of their car seat.
– Use the harness slots that are farthest away from any airbag.
– Keep your child in a rear facing position if you are using an airbag equipped car seat, or if not, keep them in a forward facing position with their back against the back of their vehicle’s seat and use a harness and tether strap.
